Twelve months after a mechanical failure pitched him head-on into the barriers while leading, Tom Dillmann returned to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and won.

The Frenchman shared Inter Europol Competition's ORECA 07-Gibson with Jeremy Clarke, converting pole position into a commanding LMP2 victory in the Chevrolet Grand Prix. The car led 93 of the 127 laps, and with the GTP class not on the entry for the Mosport sprint, that made Inter Europol the overall winner on the day. The 2025 crash at the same track had left Dillmann with a fractured vertebra that required surgery and forced him out of the following round at Road America.

He was reluctant to dress the win up as destiny — at least at first.

"Going into the weekend, it didn't change anything for me. I go to any race wanting to win," Dillmann said. "But now, after the fact, I think it's indeed a cool story."

Pressed on the symmetry of the result, he allowed himself the thought that the crash may have cost him a hat-trick at the circuit. "Coming into this weekend, it didn't change me. I want to win every race," he said. "Having a back injury, coming back to win it again, I think without that crash we could have made it three wins in a row here."

"In the race, Jeremy did a perfect job at the start," Dillmann said. "A few cars took a chance with the strategy, and they got a yellow at the right time, which cost us the lead. I knew passing CrowdStrike and Alex would be a tough task, but we managed to do it. And then we had the pace to bring it home."

Kurtz and Quinn held on for second, with PJ Hyett and Dane Cameron completing the LMP2 podium for AO Racing. The class win moved Dillmann and Clarke to within 70 points of the championship lead with three rounds remaining.

In the GT ranks, Vasser Sullivan continued Lexus's strong run in GTD Pro, Jack Hawksworth and Ben Barnicoat taking the RC F GT3 to the class win. Winward Racing won GTD with Russell Ward and Philip Ellis in the Mercedes-AMG GT3.

For Dillmann, though, the day belonged to the number on the timing screen and the corner that had hurt him a year earlier. Same track, same team, a very different ending.
